El Nido used to be a humble fishing village back in the day and has quickly turned into a major tourist destination in the Philippines on the island of Palawan. Tourism has now become the municipality’s main source of income. The town proper has a busy beach lined with bars and restaurants, and with a stunning view of Cadlao island just right across the shore. Most people hang out here after a tiring yet fun island-hopping day tour or party at night with the locals and fellow travelers.

The town of El Nido surrounds the entire northern peninsula of mainland Palawan. It is easy to get around the beach town by foot. It would be more convenient to get to the market, shops, ATMs, restaurants, and bars if you choose to stay in the area. There are also ‘tricycles’ as a popular public transportation, this is the most local way to get around the town. Renting a bicycle is an option but it can be quite of a hassle due to traffic. Biking is most recommended for going on special trips to the other beaches along the coast. However, take note of the rough roads going to the beaches in the north that require some off-road experience during the wet season.

There are some visitors who prefer to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town. There are small beach communities outside the town proper such as Corong Corong, Nacpan Beach, Duli Beach and other pristine beaches in the north and east coastline. Hiring a motorbike is a great way to explore the northern peninsula. You could also arrange a private van trip to get to the more stunning beaches outside the El Nido town.

Our itinerary specialist will be happy to arrange a motorbike or private van trip to your personalized Palawan itinerary.
