The great thing about taking your PADI Open Water Course in El Nido is that the region has shallow reefs, colorful coral gardens, and good visibility – making it a great place to learn to dive whatever your age.
Best Time to Dive in El Nido
El Nido has two seasons, the dry season from November to May and the wet season from June to October. The warmest water (around 28-30 °C) is usually from March to October. However, you don’t want to take your PADI Open Water Course in El Nido during the rainy season especially the month of August. During this time, the boat trips get canceled frequently due to sea and weather conditions. If you want to avoid the crowd, you can dive in El Nido between November to December and May.
Itinerary at a Glance
Note: Our dive packages are offered to inspire you and can be tailored to suit your needs and requirements.
During the PADI Open Water Course, you will learn all about the basic theory and master the skills needed to be safe and comfortable underwater. The course has 3 parts:
- Theory/Knowledge Development
- Confined Water Dives
- Open Water Dives
And to save you precious holiday time, you may choose the PADI eLearning (online) so you get the theory out of the way when you get to El Nido. The PADI eLearning is just an online digital version of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual. Once you book your PADI Open Water Course in El Nido, we will give you a unique PADI access code so you may start learning the theory from the comfort of your home.
Part of the learn to dive package is a 4-night stay (or depending on your preferred length of stay) at Cuna or Lagùn Hotel. Our partner hotels are in town so you can easily reach the PADI dive center by foot. Please talk to our Palawan itinerary specialist if you prefer a different accommodation.

Our representative will pick you up at the bus terminal or airport to take you to your hotel. We will meet you at your hotel to brief you about the activities on your itinerary. We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:15 am to take you to the dive center. The dive course involves a mix of theory and open water diving. Otherwise, you may need to go back to the dive center in the afternoon to watch the video course and continue the theory.
